I'm very struck by the Protagonist series, there is something of David Hockney about some of it, as well as Francis Bacon. I'm thinking of the LA 'interiors' www.google.co.uk/search?q=davi… . Obviously, Hockney's colour scheme is very 'Golden State', it's more the emotional tone and design of the works that are similar.
